Turn off your iPad. It is not to be used (in any way) in this classroom, either for academic or recreational use (unless approved by the instructor). Ignoring this will result in detention and further disciplinary action (Gross Misconduct/Refusal to comply). Did you remember to put your assignments in a folder? Did you label the folder after the assignment title? Did you save your file in the appropriate manner? If not: NO GRADE! Check your PowerSchool frequently. It's your RESPONSIBILITY!

 

Vinyl Graphics Assembly (T-Shirt)

Due Date: May 18


  • Create an illustration in Adobe Illustrator -Photoshop is not be used
  • Your design must be vector (Illustrator shapes and paths) NOT Photoshop raster (bitmap) images.
  • Your design must be three colors (minimum)`
  • Make sure all of your colors are separated out onto different layers
  • Do not leave Text as text. Instead, right click on your text and select "Create Outlines"
  • Text and most logos must be mirrored (reversed) - Use Illustrator's "Transform" command under "Edit"
  • Overlapping shapes should be United or Merged using Path Finder
  • Scale your illustration appropriately in the software (8" x 8" minimum / 12" x 12" maximum) - Use Adobe Illustrator's "Rulers" to make sure the size is correct
  • Save your file as an Adobe Illustrator document (select the Illustrator 8 option when the window pops up and asks for the version)
  • Use the LXI vinyl cutting software to import your PDF file
  • Cut and Weed your vinyl creation
  • Use the heat press to apply the vinyl to your t-shirt. 
  • Make sure the heat press is set to 375 degrees F
  • Lay a Teflon sheet down on top of your design and shirt before pressing - NOT DOING THIS WILL DAMAGE YOUR VINYL AND MAY DAMAGE THE MACHINE
  • Press for 15 seconds
  • Allow to cool to room temperature before removing the plastic application material
  • Repeat this process for the remaining two colors
  • ALWAYS CLEAN UP YOUR MESS - THROW YOUR SCRAPS IN THE GARBAGE
  • Submit to your instructor for approval and your grade (Be sure to take a photo of your shirt and save it to your folder where you keep all of your Vinyl Graphics Assembly)
  • Wear proudly and loudly
